How does Fixed Seat Rent and Excess Utility Sharing work in Shared Mess? ▼
Managers can assign individual fixed monthly seat/room rents to each member. Individual utility payments up to the fixed bill cover personal rent obligations, while extra spending above the fixed bill is shared equally among all roommates.
How does the Settlement Workflow and Settlement History work? ▼
Members or managers can submit settlement payments to clear dues or issue refunds. Once confirmed by the recipient, balances are adjusted to 0 or remaining amounts, and all transaction audit records are logged in the dedicated Settlement History table.
How does the shared mess expense approval workflow work? ▼
When regular members submit a shared expense, it is marked as pending and does not affect balances until the Mess Manager reviews and approves it. The manager receives an instant notification upon submission.
Can a manager step down without leaving the mess? ▼
Yes. The Mess Manager can transfer the manager role to any active member. The original creator remains an active regular member with all past expense logs and balances intact.
Can I access my previous mess records after leaving? ▼
Yes! EXPANCES includes a dedicated Mess History archive where you can view every mess you previously belonged to, including total spend, membership duration, and breakdowns.
Is my personal financial data shared with mess members? ▼
No. Personal expenses (Bazar, Other, and personal Borrow/Lend) are completely isolated and visible only to you. Mess members only see shared group expenses logged specifically inside the shared mess.
